How Address Guard works

A single API call turns a raw, inconsistent address into a clean, enriched, and traceable record.

  1. Reference address identification

    The system matches your input address against connected sources such as Google Maps, HERE, or local postal authorities — or works purely from internal metadata when external data is unavailable or unnecessary.

  2. Enrichment and harmonization

    Missing components — localities, administrative areas, postal codes, PO Boxes, premises, thoroughfares — are added and harmonized to ISO standards and regional conventions for consistent formatting across datasets.

  3. Geo-coordinate enrichment

    Where geospatial data is needed, addresses are converted into geographic coordinates via external geocoding services. This step is optional in metadata-only mode.

  4. Translation and normalization

    Addresses can be translated to a target language (English by default) and normalized to predefined standards, such as Latin characters without accents, for consistency across systems.

  5. Location identifier enrichment

    Records are enriched with identifiers like Google Plus Code, What3Words, EGID, or UN/LOCODE, using strict and fuzzy matching for precise, communicable location references.
